{Attention Dad, this post is mostly for you. Get to shopping! }
Mother’s Day approaches and I’ve been guilty one too many times of procrastinating to pick out a gift for my mom. Last minute gifting – at least for me – means that the result isn’t as heartfelt as it should be for someone that I love so much.
While all the items in this guide were selected with my mom in mind, I’m hopeful that some of the picks might also be enjoyed by the mothers or mom-figures in your life.
1. Rifle Paper Co. iPhone 6 Case – When my mom first upgraded to a smartphone a few years ago, it was a pretty big step for her. She got a phone with basic features, nothing new or fancy, but perfectly functional for texting, emailing, and the like. That’s my mom, always practical. I was totally pleased and surprised when she recently told me she was getting the new iPhone 6! This is wonderful because 1) we can now FaceTime and 2) she spoiled herself with the newest and fanciest (something she hardly ever does!). This case offers such a pretty way to protect her new investment.
2. Smith’s Rosebud Salve – This all purpose salve is perfect for moms. I love the vintage tin and its impressive ability to aid in the relief of chapped lips/skin, diaper rash, blemishes, minor burns, and rough cuticles. The price really cannot be beat. Perfect as a gift alone (if on a tight budget) or paired with #5 on this guide.
3. Kate Spade Water Bottle – This bottle is the loveliest blue color (my mom’s favorite) and the just add water detail is so charming. I know large water bottles are usually preferred, but this one is the perfect size for my petite mom to carry around without getting weighed down. {Also comes in a fun, sparkly gold version.}
4. Silhouette DIY project – Handmade gifts are my favorite because they are usually budget friendly yet so rich in the time, hard work, and love vested in them. This silhouette is of 4 year old me! I’ll be using it for a little surprise I am making for my mom, which I’ll post about here after she has received it.
5. Kate Spade Bookshelf Pencil Case – The perfect gift for the book lover. My mom falls in this category. Her passion for books and reading is something she has passed on to me. I have so many happy memories of us reading before bed together and checking out large stacks of books from the library. This pencil case could be used as a bag to hold beauty items and other small essentials in her purse.
6. Love You More Linen Pillow – I can think of no sentiment more fitting. My mom and I have an ongoing argument of who loves who more. Though to be honest, I think my mom always wins as I can think of no love deeper or more true that that of a mother for her child.
7. Lemon Bird Jam of the Month Membership – This is actually the perfect gift for both my mom and dad. Those two just love a good jam. This company makes small, artisan batches of jam using ingredients from local family farms in Southern California. Comes with options for 3 month, half year, and full year membership. Might have to save this gift idea for Christmas…
8. Tory Burch FitBit Bracelet – Since retiring, my mom has been able to focus more on her health and fitness. This is such a stylish way for moms to keep track of her steps, water, sleep, and nutrition. I also love the colorful graphic heart pattern silicon bracelet, which is more affordable and casual.
Wishing you, dear readers, special time celebrating motherhood (in all its various forms) with those you love most!
