How far along? 29 weeks 2 days
Total weight gain: 17-ish pounds
Maternity clothes? Still wearing a mix of maternity and non-maternity. Although the options for non-maternity are dwindling by the day. I’m loving these Ingrid & Isabel workout capris with a full tummy panel that my neighbor lent to me. They give me just enough tummy support when I run and keep the belly covered when my shirt doesn’t quite do the job. I just discovered they carry the leggings at Target for a discounted price compared to the I&I website. I think these will be a must for my upcoming work trip.
Stretch marks: No, skin feels great. I do have a nice little linea nigra, which I’ve had for several weeks from my belly button down but just noticed it’s starting to creep up above my belly button now. Doctor says it will hang around until I’m done with breastfeeding.
Sleep: Sleeping better after starting some pre-natal yoga which helps stretch away some of my aches and pains. Free YouTube videos are great for this. And I had my first embarrassing experience of sleeping so deep that I didn’t wake up to pee… had the tiniest little leak before I jolted awake and stumbled to the bathroom. Hopefully this doesn’t become a regular occurrence!
Best moment this week: I’ve been doing contract work with USA Women’s Hockey since August 2015, providing nutrition support for players during training camps and tournaments. I’ll be traveling at the end of the month to Kamploops, BC for the Women’s World Championships. I was so excited to have my bio added to the staff roster on their website. Check it out here! This is a very active job and will certainly be made interesting by my ever growing belly. Last time I worked a tournament, I was about 10 weeks pregnant and felt so nauseous and fatigued so I imagine this time will be better.
This week we lost our beloved family member and fur baby, Cohen. This has been a very low point for us and we are so heartsick. He was truly a remarkable dog, and we are so sad that he won’t meet our baby girl. But we are trying to reflect on the positives – the privilege of having such an extraordinary pup in our lives and the fact that baby girl gained a guardian doggie.
Miss Anything? Being able to eat a meal or snack without heartburn, reflux, or nausea. Things are getting tight in there and I still have 11 weeks to go!
Movement: So fun watching my belly jump in response to baby’s movements. I love her so!
Food cravings: Continues to be sweet anything. Fruit and baked goods. Baking up a storm as has become the norm. Working on a post for the whole wheat buttermilk biscuits I made this week. I’m thinking my love for sweets prepared me well for my glucose tolerance screening. I’ve heard how unpleasant this test is and thankfully found it to be no big deal. I downed the dextrose solution in 2.5 minutes with no problems. I got the fruit punch flavor (the only one they had) and it tasted like really concentrated Hi-C punch, maybe I would have been more miserable if it had been a flavor I really hated like orange or lemon/lime. I’m happy to say I passed with flying colors. No gestational diabetes, so my baking addiction can continue.
Food aversions: None. Although again having trouble with slower digesting foods (proteins, veggies, higher fat).
Symptoms? Heartburn and reflux. I noticed I’ve been having a sore throat lately. Might be caused by a little extra post-nasal allergy stuff, but I think mostly its been related to acid reflux. I can sometimes feel the regurgitation of food from my stomach into my esophagus…yuck. Nausea returned this week too which has been a bummer, but it’s not as bad as earlier in the pregnancy. I’ve got a little tenderness around my midsection too, probably related to the muscles stretching. Still have overall pretty good energy but do love and need my naps!
Belly button in or out: In.
Wedding rings on or off: On.
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy and agreeable most days, a relief for Justin I am sure. 🙂 But for the last few days just overwhelmingly sad over our sweet Cohen boy.
Looking forward to: Seeing my in-laws who are coming a couple weeks to help get the nursery ready. They get here when I’m gone on my work trip. The good part about this is that they’ll be making a huge mess demolishing plaster and lath and putting in new dry wall and windows, which I won’t have to be around for. We have been continuing to design and pick out things for baby girl’s room and we are anxious to start pulling it all together.

Look at you! I absolutely love everything about this post except for the tribute to Cohen. He will be a wonderful guardian pup to baby J! Miss you so!
