So I’m going to be that girl who tries to document each week of her pregnancy and compares her growing fetus to the size of fruit. Mostly for my own record and for interested family and friends. Clearly keeping on top of this is harder than I thought as I am just posting this 13 weeks update now and I’m nearly 16 weeks!
How far along? 13 weeks
Total weight gain: 3+ pounds
Maternity clothes? Maternity bras this week because whoa! Otherwise still wearing my regular clothes. My high-waisted work pants (I wear a uniform) no longer button comfortably so its only a matter of time before maternity clothes will be needed.
Stretch marks: No.
Sleep: Pretty good. In my first trimester I was waking often having to pee or feeling ravenously hungry and had some issues with insomnia. Now I thankfully can usually sleep a solid 8-9 hours.
Best moment this week: Moving into the second trimester! Running 10 miles and actually feeling good during and afterwards – keeping up my running schedule or any exercise for that matter has not been the easiest and I’ve been so worried that I’ve gotten totally out of shape.
Have you told family & friends? Our closest family and friends found out early on but we waited until this week to make our big announcement.
Miss Anything? Big cups of coffee. I have been having just a little coffee (like 1/4 cup) with a lot of milk several days each week, but I’m craving stronger coffee that I can drink cup after cup.
Movement: Not yet but hopefully soon!
Food cravings: Anything starchy/carby. Sweet or salty. Carbs just digest well and don’t leave me feeling sick. Bagels smeared with cream cheese were my crutch in the first trimester. Now I’ve moved on to big bowls of cereal with banana and milk. I also ate sour cream and onion potato chips with my cup of coffee milk the other morning. Weird.
Food aversions: Proteins (especially meat/fish) and vegetables have not been appealing. I think mostly because my digestion has slowed down so much that these foods make me feel sick and bloated. I am feeling better though and these things are making their way more consistently into my meals/snacks. Despite being a dietitian and knowing how I should be eating, it has been surprisingly hard to put this into action.
Have you started to show yet? I didn’t think so…but then I saw pic. I’m in denial.
Gender prediction: boy – will be several weeks before we find out & I can’t wait!
Belly button in or out: In
Wedding rings on or off: On
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy! But I have my moments. Apparently I will throw a tantrum if I don’t get to sleep before about 10:00 pm. And you should have seen the tears pouring down my face at the end of “Love Actually.”
Looking forward to: Hopefully continuing to feel better as I get further into the second trimester! Getting through the half marathon I have the Sunday after Thanksgiving so that I don’t have to worry as much about staying in running shape.
